Your question is weird. What is the basic standard of beauty in your country? Is the stand of the US one one? that narrow?
And the word "counterpart" is also strange. It's your idea but not Japanese'. People don't think the US as a counterpart of beauty, but just one country in the world.

You always focus and compare Japanese' culture and the sense to the US. Why don't you ask the same question in other Asian sections? You'll find the people in each countries has various sense.

High bridged nose is not popular nation widely, but some women who suffer intensely from their ugliness get that kinda surgery.

Followings are famous TV show called "Beauty Colosseum".
    Pictures are there.
Probably you'll focus on the surface of their look and the change only.
However, if you could understand Japanese language, you'll notice how deeply and sadly and intensely they were suffering from their ugliness.

Feel the pain of those women's heart. "Beauty" is the topic people talk seriously and sincerely in Japan. It's it not about standard.

Lydia Asghedon is one of those women that make people diss African women. When she was first discovered she was brownish with fluffy hair but now she has bleached her skin and straightened her hair to look more white. If u check the root of her hair u’ll see her natural African hair. I think she’s had a nose job too(not sure) Now different from the Eritrean girl she was with her full fluffy beautiful hair

This occurs because on a primitive level women are highly competitive with each other. When a woman sees another woman who surpasses her own idea of beauty, she feels threatened. This even touches on why most women have attention and insecurity issues; we need constant reassurance that we are "the best" at least by our loved ones. Remember that jealousy stems from insecurity.

I agree that true beauty should be applauded. However, I think that beauty means more than just putting make-up on (a monkey in a dress is still a monkey). Aside from physically taking care of yourself, real beauty needs to come from the inside — and this is the most difficult kind to find these days.

Thanks for sharing the lovely sisters of Africa. I would like to see more sisters with afros/braids, I think what people would expect is for sisters of Africa to be more natural, but they have been westernized as well. Its something we’ll all have to deal with and accept. .

The United States is a racist society….certainly more so than Euopean societies. In fact, the "land of the free" was a slave owning society up until 100 plus years ago and the racist legacy is still alive and well in America. Sadly.
It will probably take 100 more years or more for Americans to see past race.

Our African women are so divine and their beautie is so encouraging and what makes me so in love with them, is because of their patience that they’ve got for our men.

You and I know how our glamourious honies and babes are.

My queen in Ghana means so much to me and when you look at our sisters, they are out of this world.

Brothers, we should not only look after our sisters, but to uplift them, because without them, where would you and I be.

They are both fleeting. One of the good things about getting older is that you worry less about beauty. I still worry about age because we live in a society where there is prejudice against older people. Like people can help getting older – what else can they do – die? Health seems to be more important after your late 30s, and you quit worrying about things like always looking perfect. I used to starve myself in my 20s, and I think a lot of young women still would rather be thin than healthy. Every time I read questions on here about a woman only being of value till age 23 or 25 I'm a little annoyed. What do some of these men think – that women are disposable? Chuck her and find a new one when a female hits a certain age because her value has decreased? To only be valued for your youth and beauty is kind of a sad thing.

Society pressures men to be attractive too, and many men are age conscious. A lot of them not until their 40s and beyond though. Most of those fat old ugly guys with beautiful younger women have major $$$$$$$$$.
